I have always been intrigued by still and moving images. I have fond memories of my Grandfather, F.M. Pierce, toting me along as a child on numerous trips across the country to Little League Baseball Conventions. He always had his 8mm camera to document our adventures, probably hundreds of reels of film. I always had my tiny Kodak Instamatic camera to capture the trips and our shared moments together. There started the love affair with images.

Still photography was enough until the spring of 1981. My parents arrived in Clemson, South Carolina to see me play on Marshall University’s spring baseball trip with a portable camera connected to a VHS dock. Pictures in motion became my passion. A few years later, I created a video production company to film weddings, events and eventually commercial productions. Fascinated with the technology as it morphed from tape to digital formats, I wanted to explore more of the increasing technical aspect of images. I went back to school to learn the magic behind the movement.

The journey brought me back home to my first love: the art of capturing movement in still images. Composition, in my opinion, has always been my gift. I see things more defined through a viewfinder, a scene I don’t necessarily see with my naked eyes. There is something magical about capturing a moment in time and translating it to an image I can feel.

My hope is that it resonates with each one of you viewing my website.
